(Limited) catalogued 4500 bales, of whieh 3500 sold, and realised full prices. Greasy wool brought up to 13d and scoured to 21d per lb. The e was a large attendance of buyers, and brisk competition was experienced.

DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKET. J, H. Kxlgoue, grain and produce broker, reports under date Oct. 24th as follows :

Flour. —There is no change in prices to report. I quote town flour at £lO 5s in sacks and 1001 b bags, and £lolss in fifties. Country brands rather under these prices. Oatmeal. —£10 10s lo £ll per ton. ■^yhea'..—Th»re is a fair demand for local requirements nt—for Tuscan and white velvet, 4s 2d to 4s 3d ; other milling sorts, 3s 9d to 4s. Fowl-feed is in full supply, and may be quoted at from 2s to 3s, according *o quality. Oats. — l here has been some inquiry frr shipping, but prices have not improved. I quote—for bright short feed, la 9l to Is lOd; other feed sorts; Is 6d to Is 8(1, according to condition. Prime milling may be quoted at Is lid to 2s.

Barley.—The demand for malting quality continues good, with ». very short supply. Really good malting samples would command from 4s fid to 5s ; milling quality is wanted at 3s fid I o 3s 9d ; feed sorts not enquired for. Potatoes. —The demand ’« only local, and since my last report as low as £2 per ton has been accept'd ; but during the last few days the supnl.r has ben short, and 1 ha v e cleated all my consignments at £2 2s fid, bars extra. We are now dependent upon supplies from the South, and prices are likely to remain firm; but in the absence of any outside demand, there is at present n f prospect of big prices. Butler. —I here cleared all prime lots of salted in kegs at fiid per lb. Inferior is unsalable.

Cheese —Demand quiet. Prime Akaroa, 5d per lb. Chaff. —The demand for good oaten sheaf is active, and £4 5s per ton may now be obtained. I h-i'chad no sales during the week. Grass Seed. —The demand is limited. Farmers’ parcels of ryegrass are neglected, and even machine-dressed samples are slow of sale. Prices nominally, 4s 3d to 4s fid. Cocksfoot is saleatde at 5d to fid per lh. Hides. —41 per lb for heavy, well-trimmed hides, and 3d to 3fd for light and inferior. Eabbil skins.—There is still a good demand at pric b recently quoted. My sales have been—for mixed skin*, 14d per 16. TalUiw.—My sales during the week have been ai 30s for medium quality of rendered, and 20s to 21s for rougli fat.

Messes Donald Ebid & Co., report for the ■week ending, October 24, as follows ; Fat Cattle—Only 110 were yarded. These included the Glad l 'rook and Crescent drafts, which were very prime quality; the rest tanged from stores to medium. The supply proved below requirements, prices again showing a substantial rise. Best bullocks sold at £lO 7s 6d to £ls, others, £5 7s 6d, to £lO ; best cows, £7 5s to £lO 2s 6d, others £3 to £9. We yarded 32 head and sold as follows j For J M'Queen, Esq. (Kmipdale, Gore), 16 yearlings in pn'me condition at £4 17s 6d to £5 15s; for James Robertson, Esq. (the Crescent, Inch Clutha), 12 very prime bullocks, £ll 7s 6d to £ls, averaging £l4 Os 6d; for Messrs G. Samson, N Fletcher, and M'Glashan, 11 head, £2 17s 6d to €6 15s. We quote prime bei f, 30s to 32s 6d per 1001 b. Fat Calves—None in.

Fat Sheep—To-daj’s market was supplied with 847 cross-breds in wool, mostly prime quality; 87 shorn crossbreds in medium order; and 592 merino withers, mostly good to extra prime. The sales opened briskly at full last week’s prices, and advanced Is to 2s a head towards the close. Best crossbreds in wool sold at 16a to 20s 3d ; a couple of ex’ra fine pens, 22s 6d ; others, 13s 9d to 15s 6d. Beat merino wethers sold at 15a to IBa 6d ; a few extra to 20s 3d; others, 13a to 14s 9d. We penned 221, and sold for Mr D. M'Bn'n (Cl altnn. Gore), 41 merino wethers, 15s 3d ; 166 merino wethers to 15s for Mr Joseph Culling (Hillgi'ove); 10 prime crossbred wethers, 20s 3d ; and a small draft crossbreds for Messrs Craig and Willie at 16s. We quote mutton in wool 3 Jd per lb. Fat Lambs-There was a large supply in to-day—viz., 318 ranging from small and inferior to extra gO"d. The demand was scarcely so brisk as last, weeks sale, hut all found buytrs at 7s to 15s. We sold for Jas. Shand, Esq. (Btrlley-Henley), 10 extra at 15s, 33 at. 9s to 9> 9d ; for Joseph Culling, Esq. (liihgiove), 30 at 9s ; for Messrs Craig and Wy It--, 20 at 11s 6d to 12s. Pigs—A large s; pjoy forward to-day, 217 being penned. The greater part of these were porkers aiid baeon pigs, which sold at 33s to 775; a f-. w store- 18s to 265. We sold for M A. well-grown bullocks for fattening, and any number could be placed at satisfactory prices.

Store Sheep—We have inquiry for future delivery, and have sold 500 half-bred hoggets at lls, and 250 ewes at market rates. Sheepskins—We had a large catalogue for our sale on Monday, but only a moderate attendance of buyers, who bid with spirit for full-grown merinos, prices showing a slight, rise; but halfbreds and coarse crossbreds were in little demand, and prices easier. Green merinos sold at 3s lid to 4s 6d ; dry do. Is Id to 4s sd; green crossbreds, 3s 7d to 4s 4d; dry do, Is to 4s; pelts, 6d; lambskins, 6d to 7d each.

Rabbitskins —We did not offer any this week.

Hides —The demand •is scarcely uo to supply, and at recent sales prices have been lower, say, 3d to 3£d; a few to 3fd. Green hides, 14s to 20s each. Tallow —We have a ready sale for all lots offering, but prices are a little easier. On Monday we sold a few casks mixed at 27s ; medium, 22s 6d to 25s ; butchers’ rough fat, 20s to 23s perewt. Grain—Wheat; There is no alteration either in demand or quotations, nothing but choice sorts being inquired for, and for these sorts millers are offering rather low prices. Our sales have been 4s to 4s 3d, the latter obtained for extra fine Tuscan. Medium sorts are difficult to move at 3s 5d to 3s lOd ; inferior and sprouted we quote 2s 9d to 3s 3d ; cbiok feed, 2s 3d to 3s lOd. We sold 4114 bushels. Oats : The demand has been confined chiefly to local wants, but as arrivals are far above the demand, prices have not improved, and Is 10Jd may be given as top price, while best bright feed sells at Is 9d to Is 10d ; discolored parcels, Is 7d to Is BJ-d. We sold during the past week 549 sacks. Barley : In the absence of stocks, there is nothing doing. Potatoes —The market is now well cleared, and prices are slightly firmer. To-day we sold 34 tons at 40s, bags ext ra. Ryegrass Seed—As the season is now pretty well past, therq, is very little doing. THE CHRISTCHURCH MARKET. Chexstchuech, Oct. 25. Wholesale produce prises—3arley, malting, 4s to 4s fid per bushel. Butter, fid to7d per lb. Cheese, 4fd to 5d per lb. Flour, £lO 10», to £ll. Hams and Bacon (in cloth), Bd. Hay, £2 10s to £3.
