(Pkess Association.) Auckland, Friday. - ' On the passage of the ship Talkun, from Hamburg, .an' encounter took place between tbe mate and a seaman. The latter g0t.43 days’ solitary confinement in irons, and was only released on arrival at Auckland. The schooner Mazeppa, from Earatonga, reports that a French war ship is expected daily at Karatonga and adjacent islands, to enter into negotiations with the native authorities as to annexing Harvey or Cook’s group, Wellington, Friday. The Government have a telegram that the Detached Squadron leaves Sydney on Saturday for Auckland, and will remain in the latter port for five days. The Princes will visit the Hot Springs aud lakes of the North Island during their stay in Hew Zealand.”
