It had been used in almond and olive oils, in sulph uric ether, in rectified alcohol, in chloroform, and in several advertised medicines; but in *ll the hitherto known roethois of its preparation, certain irregular results have been experienced. But in the form of 1)b Bright’s Phosphodyne its invaluable action on the liumrn system is realised without any of those drawbacks which other modes of preparation invariably produce. CAUTION, —Avoid phosphorus in the form of pills or lotlonges, as. liter frequently contain solid particles of phosphorus, which accumulate in the system, injure the bones and palate, producing necroses and other serious evils. Being prepared from obsolete formulas, they are generally unreliable* and in some cases positively dangerous.
