3?ho | rights of the Company comprise a special Crown grant of six acres of auriferotis i land whidh is intersected by the proposed sludge channel, together with -the water right from the Round Hill to the sea, being the only outlet from that goldfield. By cutting this channel a fall of over 55 feet (as -shown bv Government survey) will be obtained, thus enabling the present claims to be worked to a greater depth, and also rendering -fresh ground-available for sluicing. The advance of this field may be estimated from 'the fact that the gold return has increased over 20 per cent, in the last twelve months. The Government, seeing the necessity of this work being completed, has decided to grant a-subsidy of pound for pound up to £IOOO.
