IMPORTANT NOTICE TO THE INHABITANTS OF THE WESTERN DISTRICT. THE PROPRIETORS OF THE WESTERN STAR have much pleasure in notifying that that journal is issued now twice weekly, viz., WEDNESDAY AND SATURDAY The Western Star is the only journal published in the Western District of Southland and in consequence hat a large circulation ia Riverton (the nearest town to the Longwood goldfield) the adjacent important mining centres of Orepuki and Round Hill, and Jacobs’ River, Thorabury, Flints’;, Bush Gumraie’s Bush, Groper’s Bush, Wild Bush, Waimatuku, Waianiwa, Limestone Plains, Otautau, Oreti Hundred, Wrey’a Bush, dec. It also circulates in the districts of Invercargill, Winton, Lumsden, Oampbelltown, Wallacetown, and generally in every part of Southland. TERMS OF SUBSCRIPTIONS. DELIVERED. Per annum £1 0 0 in advance „ half-year 0 II 0 „ ~ „ quarter 06 0 „ „ Posted 2s per annum extra 10 per cent added to these prices if booked. Subscribers can mmenoe from any date and subscribers will be charged from that date. Notice to discontinue subscriptions mutt le in writing, and posted, or delivered to the Office direct, aud addressed to the Manager. Verbal messages to travellers or agents will in no ease be regarded. This rule will be stricily adhered to, and reply by circular from the office, notifying date of discontinuance, wilt be forwarded. The recent additions to their plant enable the proprietors to compete with the largest colonial firms in the production of artistic ■ JOB PRINTING, Including every class of work from a card to the largest sized poster. TEEMS OP ADVERTISING. Casual Advertisements, Ss per inch, first nsortion; subsequent insertions Is 6d per inch. Ordinary advertisements specially ordered over leader, double rates. Standing advei tisements for three, or six months, ns per scale and agreement. Alterations to standing advertisement must be in the hands of the Manager no later than thi Monday or Thursday before each publication. Trade Cards and Advertisements, to appear for twelve months and over, with right to occasional alteration of matter, at still lower rate of charge. Advertisements sent without the number of naertions being specified, will be regarded as standing advertisements, and continued until notice of discontinuance is forwarded in writing. Notice to discontinue Advertisement (unless where number of insertions is mentioned on original order) must be forwarded, in writing addressed to the Manager, at the Publishing Office, Napier street, Riverton.
