Dam, Tullop, one of the finest mares of New South Wales, imported thence to Southland by the late Captain Howell. Tullop was the mother of the famous racehorse Sailor, to whom, on ■ the dam’s side, therefore, His Excellency is brother. . \ His Excellency is a dark chestnut, is strongly and symmetrically built, and better adapted for producing weight-carrying hacks than any animal shown this year. Old Marquis died last winter at the age of 21 years, and never cost his owners one sixpence for medicine. Marquis of Hamilton gained the Silver Medal at the Clutha Show when shown as a two-year old.
