A RECREATION RESERVE.
TO THE .EDITOR. Sib.—Being a stranger here,, and a lover of" . all kinds of out-door #p >rts, I have been not a. ht,tie- surprhe lat the absence in Riverton of anything in the shape of a recreation ground, where aur youths could indulge in a game of cricket, football, &c. lam informed that the Corporation has a reserve of several acres on, the Highlands, adjoining the hospital. Now if this is the Case it seems very strange that no steps should have been taken towards improving it by fencing, ploughing, and sowing in grass, &c. Ido not believe there is.a town, in the colony the sia-i of Riverton that has its, recreation reserve in such a neglected condition. I am told that over £I.OO has been, spent in the attempt to make baths in South Riverton, which nooody can. be found to take over. Now, if one-half this sujn had been, spent in improving tlm recreation reserve, some real good would have b-.-en done t > the community at large. 1 hope the Council will, see its way b -fore .ho season s much fartheradvance ; i- • take some steps in this matter. —-- lam. &c., OttXCKKTi
