The match between five men aside of the Invercargill and Riverton Clubs took place in the Athenaeum, on Wednesday evening, and resulted in tl ©■ local team being signally defeated. The match from commencement to finish excited great interest amongst lovers of tbe game. The result will show that the 10. al club will have la greatly improve before they are able to cope with the same team of opponents,, The defeat, however, was taken with “good grace,” and at the conclusion of the game, the visitors were entertained at Mr Borne’s, where under the genial influence of genuine liquid congou, a cheerful hour was spent.
