Friday, August 27. In the House to-day the report of the Native Affairs Committee completely exonerated Mr Sheehan from the charges made in tlie petition of the Rev, W. Gittosi It was stated that the Government intended to fulfil the recommendation of the Industries Commission re forest conservation, and would probably offer a bonus for the manufacture of cement. . Where the joint revenue of the amalgamation of the Post and Telegraph offices paid expenses, messages would not be charged sixpence extra. The total annual cost of public education was £449,022.
