COMMITTEE MEETING.’ The Committee met at 1 p.m, yesterday in the Great Western Hotel, the members present leing Messrs Mclntyre, President fin the chair) Hoporoft, Fullerton, Laid law, Hamilton, Turnbull, Younger, W. K. Hazleft. Baird, a.id Lindsay. The Seerefary, Mr Murchie, was also present. It was resolved to sustain Mr A. Jones’ protest against Mr Officer receiving prjze for outs and ins at late ploughing match, and that Mr Jones be awarded the prize. With regard to Mr A. Ireland’s letter re the award of 5s as a special prize for pumpkins at the grain show, it was resolved that the correspondence on the subject be dropped, and that the 3s returned by Mr Ireland bo passed into the funds of the Association. The quest ion of a donation to the band for its services at the grain show was considered. In view of the Society having given £5 per annum for the past two years, and the low state of the funds, it was decided not to give a vote tins year. The President remarked that he thought the Treasurer and the Seeretarjnvore entitled to a small donation for theiJj services uuring the past yeor. Mr|Fullnrton declined, to accept any payment for his pounds were vqtM to she Secretary. \ The balance'sheet and report were submitted and approv/d of, after which the meeting adjourned. ANNUAL MEETING. Immediately after the committee meeting, the annual meeting of subscribers was held, about thirty being present. Mr Mclntyre presided. After the minutes of former meeting of subscribers had been confirmed, balance sheet and report were read and confirmed. The former showed that the over-draft at bank bad been reduced during the year by £63, there being still a debit balance of £l2l. The Chairman remarked that the members had reason to congratulate themselves upon the support the Association had received during the past year, notwithstanding the depressed state of the country. The future of the Association was a bright one, and ho hoped when his successor retire ! from office the overdraft would be cleared off. In moving the adoption of the report, Mr Hamilton expressed himself well pleased at the flourishing cenditipn of the Association. The meeting was one of the largest he had seen in connection therewith, and it indicated that people were at last taking that interest in its affairs, which they should have done long ago, when the Society could have exercised a beneficial influence in the district. Mt M. Instone proposed a vote of thanks to the retiring officer. The election of office-bearers for ensuing year was then proceeded with. Mr Lyon proposed, and Mr Hopcroft seconded that Mf M. Instone be President.

Mr Daniel proposed that Mr MTutyre be re-elected, but that gentleman declined to be a candidate, on the ground that he considered the office should be a “ rolling ” one, aud he trusted the amendment would be withdrawn, to which Mr Daniel consented. Mr Instone was then declaied duly elected. He returned thanks for the honor conferred upon him, and expressed his willingness to do his* utmost in the interests of the Association. For the Vice-President, Messrs Lyon, M‘lntyre, Reid, Baird, Collie, Hopcroft, and Lindsay were proposed, and on a ballot being taken, Mr Collie was declared elected. Messrs Fullarton and Ftatherstone were nominated as Treasurer. The former was elected by a large majority. Messrs Mills and Q-, Robertson were reelected auditors. The ©lection of six members of committee, who retire by rotation, was then proceeded with. Messrs MTntyre, Hopcroft, R. llazlett, Lyon, Featherstone, and Reid were elected. Considerable discussion arose with regard to the disposal of the club hoUSe building and reserve, near the railway bridg©. Several motions were made with regard thereto. Ultimately the following motion, proposed by

Mr S. G. Tnstone, was carried, That the j. property bo advertised for sale or to let, and that th® matter be left in the hands of thf committee to deal with the tenders as they think proper. The meeting then adjuurned. A meeting of the committee will be held-at Thornhury on Friday next, 27th inst., when the question of holding a cattle show and other matters of importance will be discussed.
