While we. are receiving testimony on ercry hand of the efficacy of phosphorised outs in abating the rabbit nuisance in this district, and of its invention being hailesl as a blessing by farmers and squatters, at the Elbow and Dipton there is quite an outcry amongst ae portion of the inhabitants as to the poison being anything '"but art unmixed blessing. Wo are told that the phosphorus will never eradicate" bunny,” like systematic rebbiting with dogs and traps, and that the skins of poisoned rabbits will not bo of tbe same market value as those killed by the former method, because that after a certain time the phosphorous that gets on the skin has the effect of loosening the fur thereon. We can scarcely believe that the small quantity of the poison it takes to killa rabbit will at all injur the skin, and are inclined to think that the parties in question are interested in the perpetuation of dogs, ferrets, ami traps, us a means of slaying those members of the furry species. However,’ we will be most happy to place our columns at their disposal for the publication of facts and figures in support of that view of the rabbit nuisance question.
