We regret to learn that no traces have yet been found of Capt. S. Tall and two men, who were drowned in the ketch Anna last Thursday. Capt. J. Tall, harbor master of Bivcrton, and brother to the lost owner of the \ Anna, visited the Bluff on. Saturday morning, trith a view to taking steps to render assistance to the crew in the event of the men have reached shore, and being too fatigued to travel to the Bluff, or recover the bodies if drowned. Capt. Thomson, Harbor Master at the Bluff, refused to assist in tho search, or allow the men and boats under his charge to do bo, on tho plea that it was no part of tho Harbor Board's duty to engage in diich a work. In consequence of this refusal, Capt. Tall auarautred a certain sum of money to a number of men to search the coast. This was accordingly done, with the result already stated. Capt. S. Tall arrived at Port Chalmers by the ship Arabia, from Melbourne, in 1861. In this little vessel he remained fur nearly two yearn, part of which, time he traded to O.iinaru, and put he was employed in the pilot service, for which the cutter ha 1 been engaged. After leaving tho Taiaroa he took charge of the stern-wheel steamer Tuupcka, then plying on the river Molyneux, and hero lie suffered severe pecuniary troubles. Aftef tins and during the last few years Captain Tall lias had the command of the schooner Jane Hannah, and several other smn.ll vessels. We are sorry to learn (from a reliable source) that Capt. Tall has left a widow with four helpless children totally unprovided for. We hope the nu'merour friends he possessed will adopt some measures to assist; Airs Tall in her bereojij*' ment. The Maid of Otago is tho latest addition to oiir local fleet ol: traders. Mr D. McLeod, late owner of the Eliza McPhee, is the proprietor. Sho is a strong ronray craft compared with the McPhoe, with less draught, and has the reputation of being a good sailer. Her trip from Dunedin was characterised by very i-ou|»h wea, lher, and she bnroly reached the slultsr ef Bluff Harbor, during the gale iu which the unfortunate Anna foutidered,
