A HINT TO OUR BUTCHERS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Will you kindly allow me space in your columns to inform our local butchers of a custom practised in England by their fellow tradesmen, viz., slips of paper are printed with the names of the various articles vended, and when a piece of meat is delivered one of these slips with the weight and price opposite the name is delivered with it. This-’, practice entails but little trouble to the butcher, and at the same time is very convenient to the careful housewife who files them, and is thus enabled to check the account when rendered. In places where the system of monthly credit prevails, the wisdom of the practice is obvious, A reference to the slips will avail in regulating the month’s expenditure, and also each delivery to be checked if necessary. Trusting the hint will be taken, I am, &c., idIRLOIH. Riverton, April IG.
