DHNEDIN. Meesra ‘Wright, Stepherrson, and Co. report for the week ending 17 Oct., as follows: Fat Cattle.—The supply was small, only 90 head being,yarded, which sold readily at an advance of 2s 0d per lOOlh. over last week’s rates.. Our sales consisted of 43 heal, at fnm €lO IDs to £l3 5b for cows, and £8 to £ll for bullocks. We quote prime quality beef, 42s 6d to 45s per 1001 b.; medium do, 30s. Fat Calves, —16 head were yarded, whijh sold at from 32s 6d to 55s each. Fat Sheep,—There was again a very bare market, in consequence of which extreme rates ruled. 8.00 were penned. We sold’3oo merinos at from 16s to 235. 500, cr‘sa-brels fetche d 32s to 335. We also sold privately 500 merino wethers and 300 eross-brels at 5d per lb., which price we quote as present market value. Fat Lambs are in good request at from 12s to 16s each, .Store Cattle and Store Sheep.—No transactions. • Horses.—The demand is mainly . for heavy draughts and strong coach horses. We quote first-class draught marcs £BO to £IOO ; me hum do., £SO to £6O ; first-class gel lings, £7O to £BO ; medium do., £35 to, £45 j good hacks and light harness'horses, £25 to £3O; medium; do., £l4 ■ to £2O ; light and.inferior, £4, to £7,' Wool. —By the Otago,’telegrams dated London, Oct. 3rd, report as follows j—The wool sales have close 1. Balmeand Co., brokers, report prospects favourable, and climate theincreased import during the year at . 100 QOCI bales, Sheepskins.—At our weekly sales we offered 850, for which there was active competition, an! prices obtained show an advance of 3.1 per skin on last week’s rates. We sold butchers’ green ekjns, half-hreds, at from 5s 10J to 7s 2d; merinos. 5s to 5s 3d ; station skins at from 2s 3d to 5s lid, according to quality. Hides continue in,good request, and prices are well maintained. Sound, weld-conditioned lots will meet, a ready sale at full rates. We sold light weights at 14s to 16s 3d ; medium to heavy do., 18s 61 to 21s 6d each j, heifer skins, 3s 3d each ; calf skins’, 2s'3d each.' ’ Grain. —Wheat continues in Lair request, but very little is being offered at present. Prime samples are wanted, and are saleable at from 5s to 5s 3d per bushel; medium quality, 4s 3d to 4s 6i ; fowls’ feed, 3s 6d to 4s. Malting barley is in good demand, and well-conditioned samples are worth ss.to 5s 3d per bushel: discoloured, 4s to 4s 61. Oats continue 'scarce, with prices alvancing. We quote feed 5s 3d per bushel, milling samples ss’6d.
