The Western Star Office, Riverton, Friday. The following is the Customs revenue received at the port of Riverton for the week ending 16th October, 1874 :

DUNEDIN. Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report for the week ending 10 Oct., as fellows : Fat Cattle. —117 head wero yarded, the major portion of which were of but middling quality. We sold on account of Messrs Mansar, Elliott, Goodisson, and others, 79 head at from £8 to £l7 19s for bullocks, and £6 10s to £l3 for cows, prices equal to £2 2s 6d to £2 5s per 1001 b. for good quality, and £1 10s to £ll2s 6d for medium do. Fat Calves. —We sold 16 head in poor condition at 16s to £1 10s each. Fat Sheep.—There was only a moderate supply, 700 being penned. We sold 200 rncrinoos at 16s. A lot of prime half-breds from the N. Z. <fc A. L. Co.’s station, brought from 33s 9d to 36s each, but these prices must be taken as exceptional, as the trade were quite bare, and the number penned was only about one-third of their requirements. Privately we sold, for. forward delivery, 3,080 merino wethers and 1,000 half-breds. We quote prime half-breds 5J per lb ; do merino 4jd. Store Cattle. —There is only a moderate business doii g, owing to the backward condition of the grass. We have buyers for cattle deliverable beginning of November. Our sales comprise 96 head bullocks and spayed cattle at £4 os. We quote bullocks, 3 to 5 years old, at £4 15s to 65 5s ; spayed cows, £4 ; mixed lots, £2 15s to £3. Store Sheep. —We have no transactions to report, but have several inquiries for wethers, both merino and half-bred. The former we quote at 8s to 9s, the latter at 12s to 14s. Country Sales. —We held our monthly sale at Mosgiel, on Tuesday, the 6th instant. 11l heal mixed cattle were yarded, which sold as follow : Stee s, three years old, in good condition, at from £5 15a. to £7 ; cows, £4 to £5 55.; heifers, two years old, £2 7s. 6d. On Fri lay, by order of Mr. J. B. Blair, we held a sale by auction of the whole of his stock and farming implements, at his farm, East Taieri. The attendance was good, but bidding was rather slack. Dairy cows brought from £5 10s. to £lO 55.; steers, three years old, £4; heifers, two years old, £3 10s. ; draught horses, £27 to £55 ; farming implements at satisfactory prices. On Friday, at Green Island, wo held a sale by auction, on account of Mr William M'Allan, of his dairy herd. Cows brought from £6 to £7 155.; young stock, £llos to £2 10s. Horses. —There is still a good demand for heavy draught and strong cab horses. Our sales this week consisted mainly of dealers’ lots, of which only a moderate proportion changed hands. We sold on account of Messrs. Little Brothers the Clydesdale entire Lord Palmerston at a satisfactory price. We quote first-class dmignts £75 to £BS ; medium do, £3O to £55 ; good hacks and light harness horses £25 to £3O; medium do, £l4 to £l7 ; light and inferior, £5 to £9. Sheepskins.—Our Wednesday’s- sale was well attended by buyers, and prices obtained showed a slight advance on last week’s rates. We catalogued and sold 820 skins as follow :—Butchers’ half-breds, 5s 9d to 6s 8i: merinos, 4s 8d to 5s 3d ; station skins, 2s 8d to Is 6d, according to quality. Hides continue in good demand, and command full rates. We quote well-conditioned hides at from 4d to 4£d per lb. At our Wednesday’s sale we sold over 200 as follow : Light weights, 15s 6d to 16s 3d each ; medium, 17s to 19s 9d ; heiferskins, lie; calfskins, 2s 9d to 4s. Grain.—There has been a better demand for wheat during the past week, and we have placed several lots of medium to good at from 4s 6d to os per bushel. We quote prime samples 5s to 5s 3d per bushel; medium, 4s 6d to 4s 8d ; inferior, 4s 3d ; fowls’ food, 3s 6d to 4s per bushel. Oats are very scarce, and much wanted. Any lots coining forward will command full rates. We qoute milling samples at ps 3d, and feed 5s per bushel, with an upward tendency. Barley : Good malting samples are worth 5s to 5s 6d ; in ferior, 4s to 4s 6 J per bushel.
