ROSPE 0 T U S LONGWOOD MINERAL PROSPECTING ASSOCIATION. Capital op £6lO, in GlO Shaves of £1 each. —of which 400 are now offered for subscription, 10s. payable on application, and 10s. in one call when required. Provisional Directors : Christopher Basstian, Esq. P. Lloyd Francis, Esq. George Grey, Esq. •I. C. Kerr, Esq. W. 11. Pcarsov, Esq. John Potchell, Esq. Joseph Stock, Esq. Treasurer: • Mr. Peter Grant. .* Secretary and Broker: Mr. Peter Grant. The Association is formed for the pun-pose of continuing mining operations on a block of SO acres of land granted by the Waste Land Board for the purpose of mining for minerals. Sinking was commenced on the Ist November last, and has been carried on by and at the expense of the Promoters up to the present time ; the shaft is now about 50ft. deep, and nine quartz leaders have been cut through, one of which contains a vein of very valuable Hematite Iron Ore; should this metal exist in large quantities its commercial importance and bearing generally upon the future prosperity of this district cannot be over-esti-mated, for with the large deposits of coal at Orepuki no special difficulty will exist in manufacturing a marketable article. But apart from Iron the other metallic resources of the range arc of such a character as have led to the wide-spread opinion that rich gold-bearing quartz reefs exist. It is now proved beyond doubt that leaders are to be found in many localities, and it is well-known that very numerous and inch surface specimens of auriferous quartz have been picked up in several gullies on the range. The shares arc fixed at one pound with a view to enable all classes to avail themselves of ibis opportunity of assisting in a work which can be looked upon only in the light of a duty we owe to the well-being of the district, and the undoubted wealth of its natural resources. Shareholders’ liability will be strictly limited to the amount of their shares. The directors reserve to themselves the right of continuing operations on behalf of the association, even though all the shares of the association may not be taken up. Any shares unsold to be the property -of the then existing shareholders, agd may be taken up by them hi proportion to their shares at any time. Applications for shares can be made to Mr. Peter Riverton, Mr. D. Macrorio, Invercargill, and Mr. Henry Howells, Orepuki, where copies of reports by Professor -Black and the manager of the mine may be sccn.oe the
