King Alfred, by Pyrrhus the First, out of Blue Light by Taurus, g.-dam by Orville. High Sheriff, by Red Deer, out of Miss Julia jlennett, by Muly Muloch, g.-dam Patty. See English Stud’ Book. Peince Alfred is a dark bay 5-year-old horse, standing 16 hands high, of immense power and strength, and of good temper. His legs are perfectly clean, and he is altogether without blemish. For breeding cross-country horses and first-class hacks, no horse could be better adapted. His sire’s (King Alfred) stock are noted in steepleohasing and the hunting field in Australia, as witness the performances of Ingleside, Tam o’ Shanter, Ballarat, Shepherdess, Ada, Pyrrhus, Alfred, Archer, and many others. His name as a sire is considered a sufficient guarantee for first-class jumping qualities. Prince Alfred will travel through Wallacetown, Long Bush, Winton, Ryal Bush, and Riverton. TH B Thoroughbred Trotting Stallion "YOUNG QUICKSILVER,” (Now-the property of M'Kenzie and Co.) Will travel this season in Invercargill, Wallacetovm, Winton, Flint’s Bush, Otautau, Oteramika, and Mataura districts. He is a beautiful bay roan with black points, seven years old, excellent temper and constitution, with immense substance and splendid action. Young Quicksilver was got by the imported horse Quicksilver, dam Caller Ou (imported), by Premier. Quicksilver, imported to Canterbury in 1864 by J. Ladbrooke, Esq., was bred by .James Coker, Esq., of Downham, near Lynn, Norfolk ; got by Prickwillow, champion of England (and considered by competent judges to be the best sire of his day) ; his dam by Old Merrylegs, by Lottery; grandsire, Performer; great-grandsire, Pretender. Young Pretender, Quicksilver’s own brother, obtained-first prize at the Royal Agricultural Show at Leeds, and was afterwards sold for £750 go to France. Quicksilver has been awarded first prize every year against all comers wherever shown. Yot'NG Quicksilver has proved himself a sure foal-getter, and many of his foals were sold last year at from £.16 to £25. Paddocks provided for mares at current rates.
