Tjie first wool sale of the season took place at E. Goldsborough and Co.’s warehouse, Melbourne, on the 23rd ult. The number of bales catalogued was unusually large, and. the bidding was exceedingly spirited. The foundation stone of a new Eoman Catholic Church|at the Arrow, was laid on Sunday, the 10th inst., by the Eight Eev. Dr. Moran, Bishop of Dunedin, assisted by the Eev. Fathers Carden and Mackay. Between 350 and 400 people were present, and a voluntary collection for the church which was made realised £l5O. At the sale of leases of Educational Eeseiwes at Invercargill, on the I7th instant, the following prices were realised: —Sections 31, 32, and 35, block 15, Jacob’s Eiver Hundred, were sold to Mr. Baird at Is. fid. an acre per annum ; section 10, block 6, New Eiver Hundred, to Mr. Grieve at 7s. Cs. an acre per annum ; „ section 22, block 36, town of Invercargill, to Mr. M'Gillivray at £1 per annum; section 2, block 51, town of Invercargill, to Mr. daggers at £3 per annum.
