OREPUKI.
[from ottr correspondent,] The election of officers for our Rifle corps has taken place. Mr. Henry Hirst; has had the honour of being elected captain; Mr. James Watson lieutenant; and Mr. Andrews ensign. Should the members continue to attend drill as. regularly and enthusiastically as they hare commenced, Orepuki stand a good chance of possessing the best disciplined Rifle corps in the /colony. \ The Sludge Channel Company have finished their tunnel under their bye-wash, and commenced to open out. Should they meet with no accident they are likely to be into their claim in a short time. I am glad to say that we hare had a welcome change in the weather, which has been very dry for a long time. Very few parties have been able to work more than four hours a-day, but the fine showers wo have had lately, and the promise of a continuance of rain, will set everyone on full time.
