AROMATIC ARBITER
OF APPETITES FIVE COURSE DINNER Have you an idea for a fivecourse dinner menu in which eacli dish is characterised by a distinctive aroma? If so, detail it to Mr Ambrose E. Appelbe, a London solicitor, founder .-of the Smell Society. In the event of your menu taking first place and being adopted, your prize will be as guest at the first dinner of the society at Grosvenor House, Park Dane, in January. Mr Appelbe told the “News Chronicle” that the General Election had necessitated the postponement of the dinner from this week. There' is a possibility of his running as Socialist candidate.
One aim of the society is to induce the London Transport Board to take steps to .ensure that buses do not develop“an “odour”" as a result of engine wear and other causes. Sir Lionel Earl, a member of the society, is supporting a request for reservations in the bigger parks for herb gardens and plants with an aroma.
