Miss Dysart, who has been on a visit to relatives in Waipukurau, returned to Napier on Sunday. Mrs H. Monteith and her son, Mr W. Alonteith, of the Bank of N.Z. staff, Waipukurau, have left for Auckland on a visit to relatives. Mrs Paul Hunter, Papakihau station, Porangahau, has now left hospital after an illness and has taken up her residence in Waipukurau. Mr H. H. Sterling, chairman of the N.Z. Railways Board, is en route to New Zealand in the Strathaird. He will -attend a conference of railway experts in Sydney, states a London cable. Mr V. I. Curry has resumed duty at the District High School, while Mr F. Poole, who has been on the relieving staff in Waipukurau, has been transferred to Ti Tree Point School, near Dannevirke. In St. John’s Cathedral, Napier, the marriage took place last evening of Evelyn, only daughter of Mrs L. Wilson and the late Mr Hoyle, Alacdonald street, Napier, and George Marland, only son of Mrs P. King and the late Mr Charles Cate, Aft. Eden, Auckland, the Rev. Llewellyn Foulkes performing the ceremony.

On the eve of his departure for Dannevirke, where he has taken up a position, Air A. AlcGreevy was met by the members of the Waipawa Municipal Band and presented with a small token of appreciation of his services. The bandmaster, Mr "E. J. Maher, in a brief speech, expressed regret at the departure from Waipawa of Air McGreevy, thanked him for his services as a bandsman and wished him every success in his new position and throughout the future years. Air McGreevy suitably replied. At the conference of electric power and county authorities held in Palmerston North yesterday for the purpose of considering the question of dealing effectively with the menace to supply lines created by the: adjacency of trees, Messrs A. C. Russell (chairman of the Central Hawke’s Bay Power Board and the Waipukurau County Council), Chas. Pattison (chairman of the PataUgata County Council), J. C. McLauchlan (engineer to The Patangata County Council), A. C. Holms (member), G. E. Fowler (secretary-manager), J. K. Lee (resident engineer), of the Central Hawke’s Bay Power Board, F. Holt (clerk) and V. Douglas (Engineer) of the Waipawa. County Council, represented the Central Hawke’s Bay local bodies. Mr H. M. Christie, M.P. (Waipawa), was among the M.PTs present.
