DOUBLE TRAGEDY
OLD COUPLE MURDERED Blood Curdling Crime BATTERED to death with axe THEIR son arrested (Per Press Association) DUNEDIN, This Day. A double tragedy occurred at the harbour suburb of Ravensbourne about 11 o’clock this morning when an elderly couple, Thomas Davidson (67), retired furnaceman, and Mrs. Agnes Davidson (59), were battered to death, their son Stanley Davidson (22), being arrested on a murder charge. Deceased resided on the main road at Ravensbourne, with his four sons and one daughter. AH except Stanley anti his parents were away at 11 o’clock, when neighbours heard screams and saw Mrs. Davidson running towards the house porch, where her husband lay face down with a man attacking him with an axe. A neighbour hurried for the police, who on arrival found Mrs. Davidson dead near the porch, and Davidson dead inside the porch. Their son Stanley was found sitting on the sofa in the front ' room and a blood-stained axe was found near the porch. It is stated that Stanley was * recently released on probation from a mental institution.
