Tennis Cup Challenge
The Waipawa Lawn Tennis Club has accepted the arrangements setting down the Christie Cup challenge match with Wairarapa to be played on their courts. The match will be played on March 7. King’s Broadcast It appears that a mistake in the date was made in the cable message published on Monday in reference to the King’s Empire broadcast. A short-wave listener states that the official announcement gave the date as Sunday, March 1, not March 8. Foundation of Rotary Napier Rotarians yesterday celebrated the thirty-first anniversary of the foundation of Rotary. The anniversary actually fell on Sunday, February 23, but as the luncheon fell the day afterwards it was celebfateff then. One Rotarian explained that Napier, in time, was about a day ahead of America, whence the movement Rotary International originated, so that they were really celebrating at the correct time.
A Dairyman Fined A light penalty was imposed in the Napier Magistrate’s Court yesterday by Mr J. Miller, S.M., when Alfred Anderson appeared on a charge of selling adulterated milk. The circumstances were that the milk sold had been supplied by neighbouring dairymen, and it was not alleged that Anderson had tampered with the milk. In view of the circumstances His Worship stated that he would not impose the customary heavy penalty. A fine of £4, costs 16s and 10/6 for an analyst’s fee was imposed. One month was allowed in which to pay the fine.
