FATAL ACCIDENT

GIRL CYCLIST KILLED COLLISION WITH CAR [Per Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Last Night. Elies road, near Rugby Park, was the scene of a fatal accident this evening at 8 o’clock, when a car driven by a young man, Mr J. C. B. Glass, collided with a cyclist, Miss Joan Lorraine Nicholson, aged 16, daughter of Mr J. R. Nicholson, Invercargill, who suffered severe head injuries and died while being taken to hospital in the ambulance. The motorist and cyclist were travelling in opposite directions. The right head-lamp of the car struck the cycle, and the rider was thrown violently against the windscreen, which was broken.
