’PLANE OVERTURNS
WAIMARAMA BEACH MISHAP
TWO OCCUPANTS UNINJURED Round about seven o’clock last evening one of the Hawke’s Bay and East Coast Aero Club machines landed at the water’s edge at Waimarama, its wheels sinking in the soft sand and overturning. The machine was damaged, but the full extent will not be known till an inspection is made. Beyond a shaking the two occupants were not injured. The pilot, Mr. R. M. Field, said last night that the cause of the accident was the yielding sand at the edge of the water on Waimarama beach. As far as he could see after a cursory examination, not a great deal of damage was done to the plane. Neither he nor his male passenger was injured, though they were shaken.
The plane was taken out of the water and brought pack to Hastings, where it will have to undergo thorough inspection.
