The match between the M.C.C. and South Canterbury concluded on Saturday and resulted in a draw. On the opening day the visitors made 182, and at stumps South Canterbury had lost three wickets for 4 8 runs, Mason having contributed 32, Souter being also not out 5.

The M.C.C. total of 278 for the loss of six wickets was registered in the fast time of 158 minutes. The South Canterbury bowlers did not receive the same assistance from the wicket as they did on the opening day, but they gave good exhibitions against hard-hitting batsmen.
