CHANGE OF SEX

A WOMAN’S AMBITION SUCCESSFUL OPERATION By Telegraph —Copyright—Press Assn. PRAGUE, Dec. 29. Zdenka Koubkowa, aged 24, formerly world track champion, who underwent a voluntary operation to change her sex, has had her desire completely gratified. She has now started work as a bookmaker’s clerk and dresses as a man. She is now confronted with unexpected difficulties, including alteration of her birth certificate and the liability to conscription for military service.

It is recalled that she refused to be examined in 1934 by the Medical Board, London, which was testifying to the effects of athletics on women's constitution. She resigned in the spring from the Czech Women’s Athletic Federation and did not participate in events in 1935 for an unrevealed reason.
