DIFFICULT QUESTION FOR LABOUR CANDIDATE “By jove, thbt’s a tricky one,” comennnted Mr (J. Morgan Williams, Labour eajmdi.da.tc for Kaiaipoi, when he was asked at Papanui recently whether -he would vote with the Democrats .to put the Government out if the Democrats wer ! e the largest party an'd he had a casting vote.
“I don’t think we ought to worry about an' liSmjpjOssible contingency/’ he added, amidst laughter. “But —” he proceeded, anid then paused, deep in thought.
After some hesitatHion' he repeated: “That’s aw impossible contingency. I don’t believe in jumlping out of the frying pan into the Are.” “Do you believe Labour is going in with a (big majority?’’ the questioner asked.
“I hiope SO' and I believe it will be a good one,” replated the candidate to the accornfpanimenti of inpplause.
