Ramon Novarro in romantic uniforms, teamed with a piquant new personality from England, champagneblon.do Evelyn Laye, charms with music, romance, comedy and drama in “The Night is Young,’’ Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer’s glamorous new Viennese musical uiomance, playing at Waipukurau to-morrow (Saturday) afternoon and evening. Oscar Hammerstein 11, amid Sigmund Romberg, the team that created “ Desert Song” and “New Moon,” wrote the libretto and haunting continental music of the spectacular new production, revolving about the Imlpemal ballet, and .staged with massive and spectacular settings and gorgeous costumes. Novarro as the you’ng archduke, sings isuberbly, and Mias Laye, too, has a glorious voice plus much beauty. And, contrasted to gay comedy and light-heart-ed romance, they also stalge some poignant dramatic moments. The story deals with a young archduke’s forbidden love affair with a ballet girl. Dudley Murphy directed with deft skill.

Clever little touches such as the musical marionettes, this comedy song j of Charles Butterworth, and other deI tails add unique charm. The eaist includes Charles Butterworth, Una Merkel, Edward Everett Horton, Donald Cook, Henry Stephenson, Rosalind Russell, Herman Bing, Charles Judels and Albert Conti, all of whom fill their roles with distinction. JACK BUCHANAN “BREWSTER’S MILLIONS” “Brewster’s Millions,” Jack Buchanan’s latest musical film, which comes to the Waipukurau Theatre ori, Saturday, November 30, has well proved itself the most ambitious “musical” yet made in England. It was directed by the man who made “Whoopee.” The whole film goes with such .stplendliid rhythm from iitjs opening titles. to its 1 finale that 'One feels almost impelled to get up and join in the fun!
