FORESTERS’ LODGE
meeting held last evening
general business dealt with
There was a large attendance of members of Court Ruahine (A.0.F.) present at the bi-monthly meeting of the Lodge last evening, C.R. Bro. I. O. Samuels presiding. The business of the evening included a discussion on the hospital agreement, the outcome of which resulted in the Lodge’s delegate being given full power to deal with the subject at the forthcoming conference of the Friendly Societies’ Council. It was stated that the Hospital Board had refused to renew the agreement with the council, preferring to deal with the various Lodges individually. However, it was pointed out that in the past the Council had arranged the agreement, and it was thought that one agreement, to cover all Friendly Societies in the board’s area, would be much better than if the nine lodges each had separate agreements.
Mention was made of various social functions to take place in the near future, among which was a further indoor bowling'match versus the Manchester Oddfellows, to take place on Friday, November 29. Votes of thanks were passed to the Sisters of the Lodge for their assistance in entertaining the District officers at the last meeting of the Court, also for their splendid work during the year. One new candidate was initiated into the Order by the Chief Ranger, assisted by Lodge officers. Th Court adjourned for supper and indoor bowls.
