DISTRICT SWIMMING

PATANGATA CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING

(From Our Own Correspondent)

The annual meeting of the Patangata Swimming Club was held in the Otane Hall on Thursday night, there being a good attendance. The balance sheet showed that £6 had been spent on improvements to the grounds and that there was a cash balance of £5 in hand. It was decided to hold the annual meeting on Boxing Day and that a similar programme to last year’s be adopted.

The question of prizes was discussed and it was decided to give orders for the trophies. The secretary notified that the ladies’ champion cup had been won outright by Miss N. Dillon and that this young lady had re-presented it for competition. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to her.

The folio-wing officers were reelected: —Chairman and treasuier, Mr. J. N. Barrie; honorary secretary, Mr. N. Scheele; Messrs. D. Smith, S. Kittow and J. Ashby were elected judges of the swimming events; Mr. J. N. Barrie of the diving events; and Mr. Arnott as started and handicapper.

The usual programme of children’s sports and running events will be held between 1 and 2 p.m., prior to the swimming fixtures.

The usual dance in the evening will be held, and a good orchestra is being engaged to supply the music. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
