WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
WAIPUKURAU BRANCH MEETS ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME The monthly meeting of the Wal(pukurau Women’s Institute was held in the Masonic Hall yesterday afternoon. It being members’ meeting, there was an. excellent attendance of members and friends. After routine business had been dealt with (the meeting was handed over to Mrs J. H. Hindman, who acted as president, and Mrs Skinner, secretary, the- members putting on a most delightful musical programme interspersed with old-time dancing, recitations, novel and amusing competitions and community singing. The programme was as follows:-— Community'singing, music circle, led by Mrs W. Jamieson; quartet, “Convent Bells,’’ E. G. Dowrick, J. H. Hindman, T. Murray and J. G. Dunlop; play, "An Unexpected Bargain.” Mesdames Skinner, Dinnan, Dunlop, J. Hindman, Rusher and Wiggins; song, Mrs T. Murray; Irish Jig, Misses B. McLean and J. Johnston; recitations, Airs J. Winlove and Miss AT. Moriarty. A closing melody by the Music Circle brought a much enjoyed programme to a close. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Sherriff, L. Renner, Smith, A. H. Timms. F. Watson, Wallace, assisted by members. During th** afternoon, Mrs Bromell referred to the departure of thr°o institute members, Mrs Burgess, Mrs Sa.indms, and Mrs D. Mills, and on behalf of the members, wished thogi every success in the future. Two new mernh-.-s were elected. Airs W W. Jamiesm and Mi'S F. Tn-kcr.
