New Waipawa School Site A difference of opinion as to the appropriate site for the new school at Waipawa arose between the senior inspector of schools, Air T. A. Alorland, and the chairman, Air G'. A. Maddison, at the meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Education Board at Napier yesterday. Air Alorland said 'that after the recent rains he saw a good deal of surface water there, and suggested that if there were an alternative site the board should consider it. He added that if there were no other site, the board could have no option but to continue with the committee’s recommendations. But there was a dangerous railway crossing near the proposed site, and the board should take this into consideration. The chairman replied that there were schools at Hastings with three dangerous railway crossings, but rarely were there any instances of accidents to children. He disagreed with the senior inspector of schools that the site was not suitable. The Revs. F. L. Frost and R. B. Waugh also disagreed with Air Alorland, and the board decided to adopt the recommendation of the committee. From where I sit I see the street, Windswept and soaked with rain, Alas! my armchair I must leave And venture out again. But I’ll be wise and from the ’flu I’ll make myself secure, I’ll conquer ’flu, and coughs and colds With Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure. 21
