OF OURSELVES POPULATION OF NEW ZEALAND (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Nigh’. A gazette issued to-night shows the population of New Zealand proper (including .Maoris) at June 30, 1935, was 1,558,916 comprising 794,198 males and 764.748 females. The population of the North 'sland was 1,009,650 (includU.g Maoris) and of the South Island 549,296 (including Maoris). Excluding Maoris the figures were 937,871 in the North Island and 546,077 in the South Island During the quarter ended June 30, 1935, the population of New Zealand proper showed a decrease of 678
compared with an increase of 33 dur-
ing the corresponding quarter of 1934.
