WIN FOR AUSTRALIA AGAINST ENGLAND LONDON, July 20. Australia defeated England in the three-day tennis match at Eastbourne, played on Davis Cup lines, which was designed to give the English team practice for the final match of the Davis Cup series. Australia won three matches, England one, and the fifth was abandoned owing to rain. The final singles resulted:— J. H. Crawford (Australia) defeated H. W. Austin (England), 6/2, 6/4, 3/6, 6/3. F. J. Perry (England) v. V. McGrath (Australia), 2/6, 6/2, 3/1 (match abandoned on account of rain).
