<s MEETING OF ASSOCIATION BOXEB DISQUALIFIED A meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Boxing Association was held in Hastings on Wednesday Mr H. G. Apperlcy presiding over Messrs J. Dexter, W. J. Baillie, R. Gray, J. D. Donovan, R. <TC Lisle, A. Chote, B. Shadbolt, and J. Stickland (hon. secretary'.
The balance-sheet of the JarvisStock fight on Monday night was placed before the meeting, and though there was a small financial loss, members were of the opinion that the fixture was a most successful one.
The chairman expresed thanks to all those who officiated at the fixture and congratulated them upon the excellent manner in -which the tournament was conducted.
Tt was reported that an amateur boxer had caused a disturbance in the dressing rooms during the evening and had used abusive and obscene language to members of the comimrittee. After a full investigation it was decided to disqualify the boxer concerned, and the New Zealand Boxing Council is to be advised on the decision. Th'e boxer concerned was not an actual competitor in the tournament ,though he had been matched for one of the bouts. , The boxer was not one of the Waipukurau boys. The explanation and apology of another amateur boxer who failed to fulfil his engagement for Monday’s tournament were accepted, but a warning is to be given that in the event of a further default disciplinary measures would be taken. The Waipukurau Boxing Cluh made application for affiliation to the association and alsio intimated that there were about 20 boys who desired to enter the forthcoming novices’ tournament. —It was decided to advise thej club that, provided th'ey obtained a permit through the 'association they could stage contests and tournaments ; when desired and that they could also have the use of the association’s gear for such contests. The club is to be advised that the novices’ tournament, will be held at Hastings on August 2. ■ Ormond Cup Contest Various matters in connection with i the Ormond Cup tournament to be held in the Premier Hall, Hastings, 1 this evening, between teams repre- ■ seating Manora and Parkvale were, dealt with. The following officials were appointed for the fixture. —Referee, Mr .T. D. Donovan; judges, Messrs D. Shadbolt and J. Dexter; announcers, Messrs J. Stickland and M. Wise; timekeeper, Mr V. Costello.
