St. James’s Social Club On Wednesday night members of St. James’s Social Club entertained their friends at a very enjoyable social evening. The time passed pleasantly with community singing, games and dancing. Songs were sung by ithe Rev. Mr Hall and Mr W. F. C. Spargo gavo a humorous recitation. A debate, “Is the social life of to-day better than in pre-war days?” between Messrs H. Carter and A. Williams, affirmative, and Messrs W. F. C. Spargo and R. Spargo, negative, was most interesting. Mr Harker, Waipawa, acted as judge and gave his decision in favour of the affirmative by the narrow margin of one point. Mr Harker gave a most interesting and informative talk on the principles and objects of debates, and thins should be of considerable assistance to the members taking part in future debates. The accompaniments and music for the dances were played by Miss Horner.
