SECOND CRICKET TEST
PONSFORD MAY NOT PLAY BRADMAN WELL ENOUGH LONDON, June 20. Through a severe attack of influenza, W. H. Fonsford, of the Australian cricket team, has been confined to his bed since Monday. If he is sufficiently strong he is to practise to-morrow,--when a decision will be made as to whether he is fit to play in the second Test. At present his participation is doubtful.
D. G. Bradman has left the nursing home where he has been receiving treatment, he having strained a thigh muscle at the conclusion of the first Test. His fitness fdr the second Test is assured. C. V. Grimmett is suffering from an injured ankle received when fielding at Nottingham. The effects of the injury were not apparent until he played in the match with the Gentlemen of England. The condition of the ankle has now improved, and Grimmett is sure to play in the Test at Lord’s.
