LEGAL ABSURDITIES

AN ITALIAN SHOPKEEPER

BEGINS CRUSADE

LONDON, June 2.

Signor Rabaiotti, an Italian shopkeeper, at Haverfordwest, was recently fined 5s for having sold chocolates on a Sunday. He was so angry that he set to work to inquire about similar absurdities of Sunday trading, including the scope of an archaic Act of 1667. Acting as a common informer, Rabaiotti was instrumental in having newsagents fined for selling papers on Sunday. He has also discovered that anyone walking outside his. own home can be summoned under the 167? Act; so can a man whistling in the street on Sundays.

He proposes to continue to act as a common informer until the absurdities of the law are recognised.
