PIGEON RACING

WAIPUKURAU CLUB WIN FOR MR. A. FRYER ! On Wednesday the Waipukurau Homing Pigeon Club flew its first young bird race of the season from Johnsonville, an air-line distance of 124 miles. Five fanciers entered for this race, and the birds were liberated by the stationniaster at 11.28 a.m. in fine weather. The day here was a favourable one for the racers and good performances were recorded. At 3.5 p.m. Mr. A. Fryer trapped “Comet,” and secured first place. Second place was secured by Mr. C. Woods, and Mr. T. Spencer was third. Results — Mr. A. Fryer’s “Comet,” 1005 yards per minute 1 Mr. C. Woods’ “Unexpected,” 933 yards per minute 2 Mr. T. Spencer’s “Winning Hit,” 926 yards per minute 3
