DRESS CENSURED
WOMAN BOWLER WORE LOW BACKED GARMENT MELBOURNE, January 18. Mrs F. O’Connor, who was threatened with disqualification for wearing a low-backed dress in a bowls pennant match, does not intend to appeal against the censure passed on her attire. She said to-day that she had left the matter in the hands of her club, and as members had not been prepared to defend her style of dress, it was unlikely that she would take any further action. , Seeing that the executive had been so concerned about the dress, Mrs O’Connor had expected that yesterday’s meeting of the association, would take steps to fix the neckline limit, or,define what I‘uniformity of dress” actually meant. Delegates had done nothing to improve the position, for the rules of the association were still the same, and any woman bowler could wear a similar frock without breaking them.
Since she was warned about her dress, Mrs O’Connor has worn it for club games, but unless she receives support she does not think she will use it or a similar style of frock for future pennant* and other, association games. ,
