RELIEF PAY

SYDNEY ROBBERY ATTEMPT WOULD-BE THIEVES ALARMED By Telegraph—Copyright—Press Assn. SYDNEY, September 10. A skilfully arranged plot to hold up a ear of officers paying unemployed relief workers in the Randwick district was foiled by the police, who provided strong escorts at several points. The would-be robbers evidently were alarmed and the payments were made without event. About £2OOO was involved. A decoy ear was used, hut presumably the plotters were warned.
