FAT SHEEP

EASING OF VALUES AT FEILDING SALE FEILDING, Last Night. Except for fat cattle, which are moving upwards in price,/ there was a general easing at the stock sale today. Fat ewes and wethers were down about 2s a head, and fat hoggets about 3s but rates are still a full 50 per cent above those of two months ago. Exporters not operating, leaving butchers a free run of the market. A few pens of prime heavy wethers made 235, and the primest maiden ewes 21s, while fat hoggets did not reach 2 os. Store sheep were in short supply, and met a good demand for hoggets, which sold at advanced prices. The fat cattle market was keen for choice beef, bullocks going to £6 4s, and prime heifers to £7. The dairy market was over-suplied, and a dragging sale resulted. Store cattle were in fairly good demand. Prices were: —Prime heavy fat hoggets 17s to 17/7; good 14s to 16/3; medium from 12s; prime maiden ewes to 21s; prime heavy ewes 18/3 to 19s: good 16/1 to 17s 9d; medium 13/6 to 14/-; backward condition 12/6 up; prime heavy wethers 22s to 235; good 19/6 to 21/9. Store sheep: Specially good wethers, hoggets, 20/3; good, 14/1 to 15/2; fair, 9/10 to 13/1. Ewe hoggets 15/1; m.s. hoggets 15/10; ewes, with 100 per cent lambs (small pen), 355; ewes in lamb 13s to 18/6; store ewes 6s to 6/7.

Fat Cattle. —A heavy yarding of a specially prime line Hereford heifers made £7; others to £6 ss; Shorthorn heifers made £5 3s to £5 17/6; lighter heifers £2 13s to £5; prime fat cows £4 to £5; lighter £2 5s to £3 7/6; heavy bullocks £6 4s; steers £3 15s. Dairy cattle: Springing heifers close to profit £5 to £6 10s; late calfers £2 17/6 to £4 7/6; springing cows £2 7/6 to £5; heifers in milk, £2 12/6 to £3; cows in milk £4 to £4 ss. Store cattle: P.A. yearling steers 30s to £2 3/6; P.A. steers, two-year £3 9s; P.A. cows r.w. P.A. bulls £3 2s to £ 365; station P.A. bullocks £4 8/6 to £4 19s; Hereford bulocks £4 6s.
