PLEADED GUILTY

TO THEFT OF £971 FROM THE TRANSPORT BOARD (Per Press Association) AUCKLAND, Last Night. A clerk. William George Norman Hutchison, aged 28, pleaded guilty this morning to ten charges of stealing sums totalling £977. belonging to the Transport Board, hv which ho was formerly employed. It was stated in evidence that, accused had disclosed the defalcations to an accountant and had given 'the fullest assistance to the police. For months he had been duplicating cheques, mostly for sums of £l. £2, and £5 representing that they were for unemployed relief wage tax payments, and subsequently cashing the cheques. Accused pleaded guilty and was committed for sentence. He was admitted to bail in two sureties of £5O.
