WITHOUT COMMENT

CHRISTCH UROH THANKS

TO SPECIAL CONSTABLES

(Per Press Association)

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night.

The Christchurch City Council tonight passed without comment the following resolution: “That the council places on record its appreciation of the action of all those citizens who have assisted in protecting property and maintaining law and order.”

At the last meeting of the council,

after a long discussion, a motion proposed by Cr. Baker: “That appreciation should be expressed of the work of the special constables,” was referred to the finance committee, which was instructed io word it in such a way that it would be acceptable to the council. The committee submitted the motion as above in lieu of Cr. Baker's motion.
