WOMEN’S DIVISION FARMERS’ UNION.

A well attended meeting of the
Takapau Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Blanket room on Monday afternoon. . Mrs W. Hobson presided. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames A’Deane, Poulton, G. White, E. White, St. Hill, Tilley, Power, Prescott and McDowell. Correspondence from the Dannevirke branch in regard to the depot,. was read and received. It was decided to send delegates to Dannevirke, Napier and Hastings alternately every fortnight to help the unemployed and those in need. A letter was received from Dr. Alexander re local proposal, which was duly considered and a reply was to be sent accordingly. A recommendation to the Takapau Farmers’ Union to instigate a beef and sheep drive, and to arrange with the Hastings freezing companies to hold them in store for the unemployed, was unanimously agreed upon. Vegetables were received from the following: Mesdames H. White, Hunt, Poulton, Power, Foley, Miss Gooch, and Major McDonnell. A -number of new members were enrolled. A vote of thanks to the Plunket Society for the use of the room was carried, after which afternoon tea brought a successful meeting to a close.
