Lovelock May Attend
ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
PREPARED TO FIND £7O.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day.
The administrative committee of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association and Cycling Association, having decided that Lovelock’s performance well merited his nomination for the Olympic games, the Council of the A.A.A. and C.A. is prepared to find £7O of the estimated expense of £l2O, and it has been decided to send a telegram to the Otago A.A.A.A. Centre, asking if it could find the other £5O.
The money will have to be in hand by June 4, to which date, in view of Lovelock’s performance, entry in his case is extended.
The New Zealander, J. E. Lovelock, representing Oxford University in. a match with an Amateur Athletic Association team, won the mile in 4min. 12sec., a British amateur record.
