<f> PARACHUTE DISPLAY (From Our Own Correspondent.) On Friday afternoon under perfect flying conditions, Mr. “Scotty” Fraser descended from the height of 1000
feet by parachute. Leaping from the ’plane, he somersalted three times. Suddenly the pilot chute shot aloft and when the main parachute opened his descent was arrested suddenly. He made a perfect landing in the middle of the paddock above which he had jumped. Squadron-Leader McGregor gave a display of thrilling
aeronautics and several passenger flights were taken.

While a local resident was sitting in his stationary car in Takapau, another car crashed into him, seriously damaging the rear mudguard, fender, rear light and the sedan top. Fortunately no personal injuries were sustained. Personals
Mrs. L. W. Simpson, Junior, and Mrs. C. Rasmussen, are at present spending a short holiday with Mrs. Schaw near Palmerston North.
Mrs. Sykes and family left on Saturday for Wanganui, where they intend to reside.
On Thursday afternoon a small party of Institute members paid a visit to the Ashley Clinton Women’s Institute, which was holding its first regular meeting. A very interesting address was given by Mrs. J. Bibby, of Waipawa, followed by a very entertaining exhibition of lightning sketches. A most enjoyable afternoon was spent by all. Takapau Items * J HUNT CLUB “MEET” (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Southern Hawke’s Bay Hunt Club held a meet over Mr. R. A. Fraser’s property on Saturday, when there was a good following led by huntsman Mr. L. White. Mr. Fraser kindly extended the huntsmen and followers afternoon tea.
The Takapau Natives held a very successful “shop” on Saturday on behalf of the Maori Church. Mr. and Mrs. G. Heperi were in charge of the stalls, and express: appreciation for the help received. . . The ploughing match at Takapau, which was fixed for Wednesday, July ■i I 6, has been put back to Wednesday, July 20, owing to the Hunt Club Ball at Takapau on the former date.
