GOOD COMPETITION LONDON, May 26. At the wool sales 9,551 bales were offered, including 4,02 3 new Zealand; approximately 5,070 were sold. There was good general competition and opening rates were maintained. There were some withdrawals of Merinos owing to high limits. New Zealand prices: Greasy crossbred, Te Paroe, top 7J, average 6 l-4d.; scoured half bred, N, top average 15d. BRADFORD MARKET LONDON, May 26. At Bradford there is not much business. Cheese: Market, rather better. Quotations: New Zealand, white 56s to 57s per cwt., coloured 56s to 575; Canadian, white 70s to 745, coloured 68s to 725. RABBIT SKINS SALE ” LONDON, May 26. At the rabbit skins sale 1244 were offered and only 128 sold. Low grades sold at 20 per cent, decline; furriers’ pulling sorts were unquotable owing to lack of business. 5 ■ CANTERBURY PRODUCE MARKET CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The potato market has firmed durI ing the week. Prompts have been | sold at £5 10s f.0.b., 5.1., at Lyttelton, and June deliveries at £5 15s to £5 17s 6d. To-day there are buyers at the former figure and sellers at the latter. Julys are quoted at £6 7s 6d and July-Septembers at £7 2s 6d to £7 ss. The values to farmers (on trucks) are £4 10s to £4 15s. The hardening of the market is due to northern inquiry, and quite a fair amount of business has been done. The Wingatui, which sailed yesterday from Lyttelton, toojt approximately 6000 sacks from all ports, Dunedinfi, Timaru and Lyttelton. The next boat, the Waipiata, is due to sail on Wednesday or Thursday. The Wingatui’s consignment is expected to arrive in Auckland on a fairly bare market. • Fowl feed is firm at 4s lOd per ' bushel, f.0.b., 5.1., for prompt. There ! is more business than usual.
