GALE IN THE NORTH

SCENE OF DESOLATION.

IN A RELIEF CAMP

(Per Press Association)

AUCKLAND, Wednesday.

Havoc among the tents of relief workers was caused by a fierce gale which swept the camps at Aka Aka and Maioro Beach this morning. At the Aka Aka No.-2 camp only three tents out of 21 were left standing, while nine tents out of 12 were blown down at Maioro Beach. The scenes of desolation at both camps bore ample testimony to the force of the gale. At Ake Ake many tents were ruined.
